Deer Camp 2011 is open.  The Fleenor guys were the first to return from the woods today with 2 deer.  A small buck and doe

The rest of the pictures of the guys I caught on Friday night before the hunt.  The Seiler Crew above enjoying time with the guys before heading to the woods Saturday morning.  A couple of these guys hunt on our swamp 40 and down on the corner and have had success over the years.   As long as they get the deer who killed my apple tree I will be happy

Jeff and Dan Evans who hunt on our 40 across the road were relaxing and trying to figure out the best fish fry to hit. Jeff’s 2 sons were not at the cabin yet, so this year 3 generations hunting together which is what it is all about

The Pryzbl guys staying in Norway, enjoying the staple of hunting Chex Mix

I caught a few of the Andrae family enjoying a campfire on the night before the big hunt

I am not sure if these songs are just played in Wisconsin or if they are nation wide.  If you have never listened to them take a moment to lower your IQ and pick up the Yupper accent and catch Buck Fever that has started to invade Wisconsin this week with the gun hunt starting on Saturday morning.  They are good for a laugh and I want it clear that nobody in my family has “Da Yupper” accent.  Yupper is short for what you hear the closer you get to the Upper Michigan Boarder, also heard on the Eastern side of Wisconsin.. not by anyone in the Black Family despite what my cousins out East seem to think

Da 30 Point Buck by Bananas at Large

The 2nd week of Deer Camp by Da Yoopers

Enjoy the music if you have not heard it before.  If you live in the state of Wisconsin you have heard both of these songs so much that they are rattling around in your brain at odd times of the day.  I heard a DJ on a local radio station who did a rendition of The 30 Point Buck sung to different lyrics about the poor DJ who is hounded every 10 minutes by phone calls from Mid November til Thankgiving to play these songs

Whatever you do this deer hunting season watch out for Da 30 Point Buck

Hope I gave you a taste of Deer Hunting in Minocqua.  Da Deer Hunters arrive starting on Thursday

It took til the 2nd weekend of hunting but finally The Evans guys dialed into the deer and got these 2, a nice doe and buck.  The buck was missing antlers on one side.  Another was missed by Jeff dodging 5 rounds but that is a day for a different story.  Congrats to the guys on Deer Hunt 2010

Deer Camp 2010.  The Andrae crew enjoying some time by the fire before heading out in the woods after the big buck this last weekend.  Thousands of acres of paper company land are open to public hunting in Hazelhurst.  We offer our 2- 40 acre plots for hunting based on seniority at the resort.  So far as of Monday morning it has been a slow hunt with the deer winning.  2 bucks from a different group at Bear Den were taken down Cedar Falls Trail

The Evans Crew ready to hunt the 40 across from the resort.  They have 3 permanent stands set up back in the 40 and enjoy walking from the cabin into the woods for hunting.  Usually they get atleast a doe off the 40, so far this year the first weekend has been slow, they will be back next weekend to hopefully not get skunked

Everyone in early and ready for opening day to head out in the trucks.

This is one turkey with attitude.  I had these pictures emailed to me from our neighbor who bow hunted across the road from the resort.  He sent up this animal cam and caught the deer and bear pics I posted a few weeks ago.  Wade caught these pics the end of October and just sent them to me to share.  Hope you enjoy more of the neighbors across the road.  This turkey definitly is not a friendly neighbor

I have seen up to 2o or so turkeys in the resort and on Lower Kaubashine this fall.  The wild turkey is definitely making a come back in the Northwoods.  They are not afraid of chasing a larger deer off.  These 2 were fighting over who got to eat Wade’s bait pile in the woods

I also stole this picture from my brother in law Bryon.  He took it on The Raven Trail looking out at Clear Lake last weekend.   I thought it was a cool pic showing snowballs on the lake

Tonight we are under a winter storm warning with 9 – 13 inches of snow expected.  Snow in the Pines pics should be awesome tomorrow for those who need a dose of them.

Side Note:  I am not sure what jinx it is I have on PC’s  2 years ago I dropped my lap top destroying it, last year I had a bad hard drive and lost another one.  This year my newest computer is acting up.  The prognosis is it is a hardware problem and it is going to be sent away for warranty work for 1 – 2 weeks.  I have decided Black’s Cliff needs a back up computer and am looking into a Mac, I hear they are more durable and have a great photo editing program.  If I happen to not post for a couple of days in the next week it means I am doing the transition to the Mac world and trying to figure it out.  It might involve a few swear words and some spiked holiday egg nog.  Before the new one arrives I am limping the old one through that locks up and crashes a couple of times a day

The first weekend of Deer Camp was a little slow, due to the fact that no does could be taken in our zone.  These guys found a nice 7 point buck a few miles away and said there was a story about “Da Thirty Point Buck” that got away.  They were not sharing that story just having a few beers to help get over Da Loss.

Speaking of Da Thirty Point Buck, is Northern Wisconsin the only place this song is played along with “The 2nd week at Deer Camp” from Da Yuppers?  I have consulted Atlanta Georgia where they do deer hunt but no one besides Linda knows this song.  In Minocqua it is on the radio over and over and over again…..    Linda claims nobody outside of the Midwest can understand the Lingo in the song….  I think they are missing a classic…  Nothing like the belching Clyde in Da Thirty Point Buck to make you think of this time of year
