We packed up the canoe and headed to one of our favorite afternoons of the summer.  Saxon Harbor is about 10 miles out of Hurley about an hour and 15 minutes from the resort.  It is well worth the drive.  The Gibson boys are convinced it is the ocean minus salt water and sharks.  Saxon has a beautiful beach, few people and clay cliffs that kids can play in and never get tired

Chairs and a Beach Cabana are the way to go.  The color of the sand is from the clay cliffs behind us.  There is also regular beach sand, but we prefer to be near the cliffs for the kids to have fun playingin

The clay cliffs attract boys even more than Tom Sawyer and the white picket fence

A water/ mud slide was created by hauling water up the cliff and dumping it down the slide.  No water carried up and you don’t get to go down
