Time to get the rink ready for the Christmas holidays.  This year with the freezing rain we got the ice was a bit rough but it is thick enough and that is what is most important

Home from college and put to work clearing off the rink.  Shovel Jake shovel!

IMG_2483

Someone finally ventured out on the ice

IMG_2484

Long way to go.  You thought finals were hard, try shoveling the rink

IMG_2488

Decision was made that we would have to do some flooding to make the ice smoother for skating.  -10 degrees and garden hose not a good combination

IMG_2489

Yes it is cold out…. who wants to go skating…. not the person in the above picture… he likes his feet on the ground, not balanced on a blade

IMG_2490

Nobody knows where the auger is, so time to chip it the old fashioned way

IMG_2491

water pump

IMG_2493

Pounding away the hard way to break through the ice.  Trick is when you get through to not let go of the metal pole

IMG_2494

Working away.  The ice rink is quite the job to set up each winter

Getting the pump to fit in the hole and discovering the pump does not work…..

Water Pump not working time to get a different machine.  Lets try the leaf blower instead of shoveling because it just looks like more fun!

Working a trail around the lake

IMG_2503

Hose hooked up directly to the pressure tank in the basement and run down the hill.  Finally getting water, but now the challenge is to keep it flowing so it does not freeze in the line

IMG_2505

Someone else is having too much fun with the leaf blower

Water at last!  To be continued on a warmer day…
